7th Grade
Science Harrisburg Middle School
Mrs. Tschudy
The 7th grade
science class will cover the basic definition, needs, and functions of life. We
will then study the human body systems. Finally, each kingdom will be covered
from simple to complex.
The text used
is Life Science, Glencoe/McGraw-Hill:

Assignment Notebook:
Organization
is a key to being a successful student! You need to bring your assignment
notebook with you to EVERY class. Your assignment notebook is also your hall
pass. Without your assignment notebook, you are not allowed to leave the
classroom unless it is an emergency.
Grading:
The class will use a variety of ways to evaluate work. This includes daily
participation, daily assignments, chapter tests, quizzes, projects, and
semester final
exams.
Extra Credit:
Students will be offered extra credit periodically throughout each quarter for
grade sheets signed by a parent. These will be given to
students upon return of chapter exams and will be due back the following school
day.
Redo
Opportunities:
Students will be offered the chance to redo a chapter test before or after
school if a failing grade is earned on the first attempt. The score of the
first exam and the redo will be averaged together. This score (with a maximum
of 70%) will then be used as an earned grade for that test.
Late
Assignments/Projects:
It is expected that all assignments and projects will be handed in on time.
Assignments are due at the beginning of the class period. If homework is handed
in after the assignment is collected, it will be considered late. If homework
is handed in late,
the middle
school homework recovery plan will be followed.
Omit Coupons:
Students will be awarded omit coupons as rewards for review games, hard work,
and outstanding classroom behavior. These coupons may be used only on tests for
matching, true/false, or multiple choice questions. A maximum of three coupons
will be allowed on each test. Students may use an unlimited amount of coupons
on the semester exam.
Class Behavior:
Learning can be fun and exciting if students behave and act appropriately.
Therefore, it is expected that all students will behave and act accordingly.
Listed below is the classroom discipline plan that will be followed in this
classroom:
Classroom Rules 1. Follow Directions
2. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself
3. Bring ALL materials to class EVERYDAY
4. No teasing, swearing, or obscene gestures
5. No severe behavior, Act appropriately
Website:
I maintain a website for class at mt004.k12.sd.us. There are a number of useful
tools available here. On this site students and parents can find the school
schedule, class lesson plans, this syllabus, and a science review including
vocabulary and review games for each chapter covered in class. There is also a
link to the entire textbook online.
